THE ACADEMY OF FOOD MARKETING
at Saint Josephs University was established in 1962 for the purpose of developing in men and women a broad national and international outlook for executive and management careers in the food and allied industries. The Academy supports the Universitys Department of Food Marketing, its faculty and its programs in food marketing and the Campbell Library.
Leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree, the Food Marketing program prepares students for several careers in the food industry including food retailing management, food service management, sales and sales management, advertising, research and brand management. For the evening or non-traditional age student in Food Marketing, the University offers an Associate Degree and Certificate Program and Bachelors.
Also,the Academy of Food Marketing sponsors a 5-year
cooperative education program which also leads to a
Bachelor’s degree.Co-op work experiences are arranged, through the
Academy, over the 5-year course of study. Also, a limited
number of international experiences are available.
Consistently the largest major at Saint Josephs, Food Marketing is the only wholly industry-supported academic program of its kind in the United States. As one of just four Colleges and Universities in the country to offer a degree in Food Marketing, Saint Josephs has the prominence of being the leader in offering such an industry-specific program.
To date, more than 2,100 Food Marketing graduates have gone on to positions of leadership in the food industry. Furthermore, food marketing executives from nearly 100 domestic and international firms regularly access the departments coursework and seminars, and more than 75 firms recruit on the Saint Josephs campus each year.
Recognized both nationally and internationally by the food and allied industry for the quality of its program and industry support, the Academy of Food Marketing and the Department of Food Marketing at Saint Josephs University have gained premiere distinction among the industry and institutions of higher learning.
The common denominator of man is the need for food. As agricultural production was the first trade of mankind, Food Marketing is indeed the Lifeline of the World today with its great dimensions, segments and modern developments.
The food industry is the largest employer in the U.S. today. With this in mind, solving the complexities of the food marketing system, between the farmer and ultimate consumer, requires the talents and management skills of highly qualified individuals. It is for this reason that Food Marketing offers a most exciting and challenging professional career for men and women with a knowledge and understanding of the food industry, common sense and great imagination!
